The Lemont Township Board set two property tax levies at their December 12, 2023, meeting.

Lemont Township currently maintains two distinct funds to serve the residents of Lemont Township. The General Operations Fund provides funding for senior and human services programs, as well as administrative, government, and maintenance operations. The Road and Bridge Fund is primarily used for snow plowing operations and road maintenance.

The Lemont Township Board set the levy for the tax year April 2024 – March 2025 at $1,017,953 for the General Operations Fund and $1,433,354 for the Road and Bridge Fund.

Lemont Township Supervisor Michael Shackel noted that he sought a DECREASE of the General Operations Fund request from 4.95% to 4.75%, despite an increase in expenses.

Lemont Township is part of Cook County, which, in 1994, became subject to the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law (PTELL). The PTELL is designed to limit the increases in property taxes billed for non-home rule districts.
